What hunters should know about the 2022 pheasant and quail hunts

Many upland game and waterfowl hunts are already underway across Utah. The general-season pheasant and quail hunts open Saturday, Nov. 5. If you are planning to target either of these birds this fall, here is what you should know.

Interagency wildfire fuel treatments in Parleys Canyon to address watershed health

The multi-agency treatment of wildfire fuels (mulching) in Parleys Canyon will continue with mechanical treatments beginning on Oct. 11 on the south side of I-80. It will continue up to Lambs Canyon as a part of more extensive fuel reduction work to improve watershed health and wildlife habitat.

Here's how hunters in southern Utah are once again helping endangered California condors

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and The Peregrine Fund are once again asking hunters in the Zion hunting unit to stop at check stations where they can enter to win a prize by either using non-lead ammunition or removing all big game remains from the field when hunting with lead ammunition, in an effort to help endangered California condors.

Utah Wildlife Board approves 2023–24 fishing regulations and other amendments

The Utah Wildlife Board approved some changes to fishing regulations across the state, including classifying roundtail chub as a sportfish and establishing fishing regulations for the species. A few other items were also approved during the Thursday, Sept. 29 public meeting.
