Meeting on sage grouse conservation

July 16, 2003

Dear community member,

As you may or may not be aware, the population of Sage Grouse is declining across the west and its potential for being listed on the Endangered Species list is becoming more of a reality than ever before. We currently have a few known locations of grouse in our county and would like to prepare a plan on the county level before it becomes mandated by the federal government.

For this reason we would like to invite you to an informational meeting on sage grouse conservation issues on Wednesday, August 13 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Wasatch County Senior Citizens Center, 90 N. 100 W., Heber City.

We will be hosting a dinner at the Senior Center at 6:30 PM JUST prior to the public meeting and would like to invite you to join us. The dinner meeting will be a chance to meet with those who have a vested interest in the sage grouse and to gain more information on an individual basis. If you plan to attend the dinner please RSVP to Kristina at (435) 657-3236 no later than August 7, 2003.

The public meeting will cover what local landowners and the public can do to help protect sage grouse and thus keep them from being listed as an endangered species. There will be representatives from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and Utah State University Extension at the meeting to hear your concerns and answer your questions.

Hope to see you there. Please remember to RSVP no later than August 7, 2003.

Sincerely,

Kristina Haymore
