Warnings and emergency information
Access to the Range Creek Wildlife Management Area (RCWMA) is via a dangerous narrow, road that may be impassable when wet. High clearance vehicles only, 4-wheel drive is recommended. Travel in the RCWMA is limited to horse and foot traffic.
No food, gas or any other services are available. You must carry your own drinking water and first-aid kit. What you carry in, you must carry out. There is no cellular phone coverage, only primitive pit toilets at the gate, and no overnight camping in the Range Creek Wildlife Management Area. Primitive camping is allowed outside the gate. No open fires are allowed on the DWR property in the RCWMA. Gas stoves and lanterns are permitted. Officers patrol the canyon daily.
Hikers usually do not recognize they are hiking downhill until they look back, then they realize there may be a water shortage for the trip out. Be sure to take enough water!
There are no emergency facilities. The nearest facilities are located in East Carbon and Price.
