Brine shrimp harvester update

September 10, 2007

Dear Brine Shrimp Harvester:

We will host a meeting for those of you associated with the brine shrimp harvest on Thursday, September 20, 2007. The meeting will begin at 1:00 PM and adjourn not later than 2:30 PM. An hour will likely be sufficient to cover relevant topics. The meeting will be held in the main floor conference rooms (#1040 and 1050) at the Department of Natural Resources Building located at 1594 West North Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. This is the same location meetings have been held in previous years.

Aviation Representatives will be present to discuss issues and regulations regarding air traffic control and access to a portion of the West Desert Range for Hill Air Force Base. Clover Control has been generous over the years to offer assistance and allow access to the range. I expect All pilots that will be flying for the companies to attend. Safety is the primary issue and all pilots need to do their part so this mutually cooperative effort can continue. Other topics to be discussed will include brine shrimp population performance and harvest reporting. Law enforcement personnel will attend and be available to answer questions.

Jaimi Butler, one of the GSLE Program biologists will contact the appropriate company representatives to schedule distribution of CORs, ROE permits, COR marker stickers, cards and landing receipt books. These materials will be transferred to you as soon as possible. This effort will be handled independent of the pre-harvest meeting.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to begin the season.

Data from August 21, 2007. All values per liter of lake water.

Sincerely,

John Luft
Great Salt Lake Ecosystem Program Manager
