Benefits and requirements

What can you expect if you join the Dedicated Hunter Program in 2013? You'll find hard work, great hunting and satisfaction in helping Utah's wildlife.

Benefits

As a Dedicated Hunter, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Opportunities to complete service projects that help wildlife and improve habitat.
  • Guaranteed hunting. If you meet program requirements, you can obtain a deer permit every year for three years. (You may harvest only two deer during your three-year enrollment period.)
  • The opportunity to hunt during all of the general-season buck deer hunts: archery, extended archery, muzzleloader and any legal weapon (rifle).
Requirements

If you join the Dedicated Hunter Program in 2013, you agree to do the following:

  • Participate in all three years of the program.
  • Pass the online conservation and ethics course.
  • Complete service hours on DWR-approved service projects. If you joined the program in 2011, you must complete 40 hours. If you joined the program in 2012 or 2013, you must complete 32 hours.
  • Possess a current, unexpired hunting license when you apply for the program. You must also complete yearly requirements in order to obtain your permits.
  • Harvest no more than two deer during your three years in the program (with a maximum of one deer per year).
