Last weekend to see wild elk

This weekend is your last chance to take a sleigh ride through the middle of hundreds of wild elk. After Feb. 25, sleigh rides at the Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area will be over until December 2013.

Burbot Bash draws 1,170 anglers

The 2013 Burbot Bash at Flaming Gorge Reservoir broke all kinds of records — the most anglers to participate, the most burbot caught, the most tags returned and the most money given away. But the event was much more than a fun chance to gather on the ice with other anglers — it also led to the removal of more than 4,000 burbot from the reservoir.

DWR sergeant earns Medal of Valor

Division of Wildlife Resources Sergeant Mitch Lane responded to a lightning strike during the 2012 Utah dove hunt, saving the lives of two hunters. For his actions, Lane has received a Medal of Valor from the Utah Peace Officers Association (UPOA).

Utah Snow Goose Festival, Feb. 22–24

It's a sight you have to see to believe: thousands of pure white snow and Ross' geese lifting off Gunnison Bend Reservoir amid honks and the beating of wings. You can see this spectacle yourself on Feb. 22, 23 and 24 at the free Utah Snow Goose Festival. The festival will be held at and near Gunnison Bend Reservoir, just west of Delta.
