Update:
Due to warm weather, this event has been cancelled. We are hoping to reschedule in January.
The Division of Wildlife Resources plans to sponsor a mule deer watch on December 8, from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The location of the watch is west of Price on a mule deer winter range, where as many as a hundred deer can potentially be observed during winter months.
However, due to persistent warm weather, deer have not yet moved down from higher elevations. Persons who would like to participate should call Brent Stettler to notify him of your intent, so that he can contact you if the deer don’t move down to the winter range. If that proves to be the case, an alternate location may be found or the event canceled.
If winter conditions arrive and plans go as scheduled, participants will meet at the Division office in Price at 319 North Carbonville Road. From there, the group will caravan to Porphyry Bench. Participants will be able to drive their own vehicles so they can view and photograph deer at their leisure. One large passenger vehicle will be provided by the Division for those who don’t have an off-road vehicle. The watch will end at dark. Please pre-register by calling Brent Stettler at: 435-613-3707.
