Huntington Creek
Location and description
Huntington Creek parallels SR-31 for seven miles from Fairview to Huntington, Utah (from the Manti-LaSal National Forest Boundary to the Confluence of Left and Right Forks). The creek follows the National Scenic Byway, providing a beautiful backdrop and easy access. The canyon is lined with numerous pullouts, parking areas, and camping spots. The elevation varies from 6,720 to 7,650 feet and has an average flow of 12 cfs.
Game fish species and methods
The high quality habitat and abundant forage of aquatic and terrestrial insects and small fish (sculpin) provide for a healthy population of naturally reproducing brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout. The river receives moderate fly-fishing pressure and moderate to heavy bait and spincasting pressure. Fish from shore or wade and use flies, lures and bait.
Access and facilities
Access is on U.S. Forest Service property. The nearest motels are in Fairview, Huntington and Price. There are developed campgrounds in Huntington Canyon (SR-31), and primitive camping opportunities in the area. Restaurants and grocery stores are available in Huntington, Fairview and Price.
