02/10 — Diane Penttila conducting a bird survey for the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge reported the following birds and conditions: Temperature at 7:30 a.m.: –12 F°. The last snowfall pushed some geese back out and the elk moved off. The following birds were seen within the survey route:
- Canada Geese, 250
- Mallard, 4
- Bald Eagles, 7
- Rough-legged Hawks, 2
- Northern Harrier, 1
- American Kestrel, 1
- Red-tailed Hawk, 1
- Golden Eagle, 1
