Part-time Accounting Technician
The Northern Regional Office is currently seeking a seasonal part-time accounting technician (this is not a state benefited position) to assist with electronic license and permit sales, walk-in customers and answering incoming telephone calls.
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access programs, as well as experience with Internet based applications. Preference may also be given for cash handling and customer service experience, knowledge of wildlife guidebooks and an interest in hunting and fishing.
This is a temporary position working primarily Tuesdays and Thursdays, 15 to 24 hours per week, work hours may vary. Wage: $9.92/hr.

WALK-IN ACCESS TECHNICIAN

WILDLIFE (BOTANICAL) TECHNICIAN

Utah Natural Heritage Program (Habitat Section UDWR) in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The Nature Conservancy will be surveying for new populations and inventorying sensitive plant species. Project areas are in southern Utah County, southern Uinta Basin and the southern Great Basin. The primary responsibility is assisting Heritage Program botanists with this effort. Working periods consist of 5 consecutive days in the field with weekends off. A typical workweek consists of 40 to 50 hours. Field transportation and a grocery allowance are provided.

FISHERIES TECHNICIAN

The incumbent will assist in efforts to preserve and enhance the status of state listed sensitive species, primarily the bluehead sucker, flannelmouth sucker, and the roundtail chub. Specific projects include native fish surveys on the Dirty Devil and Price rivers, a life history study on lentic bluehead suckers, boreal and great plains toad surveys, and native fish monitoring in Arch Canyon. Other tasks include, gear preparation and maintenance and assisting with other projects.

MOAB NATIVE FISHERIES TECHNICIAN
Salary: $10.89 to $11.50

Responsibilities: Project technicians will assist with various field projects involving native and endangered species of fish on the Green, Colorado, and San Juan rivers. Primary duties include monitoring of native and nonnative fish populations, using fish collection techniques such as seining, electrofishing, and trammelnetting, and various other related tasks. Following field trips, successful applicants will responsible for ensuring the field crew cleans and maintains equipment, and prepares for future trips. Applicants MUST be agreeable to mechanical removal and disposition of nonnative fish species using various approaches. Project technicians will also be responsible for data collection, organization, and input necessary to complete specific projects being conducted by the Moab Field Station.

WILDLIFE (AVIAN) TECHNICIAN

Description: The Utah Partners in Flight Program is building a statewide database for all birds. Each year point count surveys are conducted at over 40 established sites statewide. Examples of duties: conducts unlimited distance point count surveys; performs data entry of field survey results and other data as needed; records survey and observation activities in field notebook; and performs quality control on database entries both individually and in conjunction with other wildlife professionals and technicians; performs other related duties as assigned.

JUNE SUCKER (WILDLIFE TECHNICIAN I)

Assists field biologists and/or field crew leaders in sampling and monitoring native state and federally listed amphibian and fish species in the Central Region, including June Sucker, Least Chub, Leatherside Chub, Columbia Spotted Frog, and Boreal Toad. Conducts research and monitoring using a variety of sampling techniques and gear types including seines, electrofishing boats, drift nets, trammel nets; maintains equipment and assists in the analysis of samples; duties may also include data entry and various other related tasks. June Sucker Emphasis: Four positions starting in April will focus predominately on the monitoring and management of June Sucker.
